Delmarva Christian’s desire is that students receive an excellent Christian education, an integral part of providing that education is the spiritual development and growth of each student.
Thus, each year DCS selects a school wide theme based in Biblical Truth and guided through prayer by our leadership, faculty, and staff.
The School Theme for the 2021-2022 school year is Experiencing Christ.
Each year members of the leadership team at DCS meet with discipleship staff and student leadership committee members to decide on a theme. Last year, the theme of “Identity in Christ” proved to be instrumental in guiding our school community through a broader cultural shift with the concept of identity. “The Lord presented to us a great opportunity to share the truth with our students” Matt Kwiatkowski, DCS Head of Schools, Principal 9-12, “This year the same is certainly true, but I think our focus now is that we have an amazing opportunity before us for this year to experience Christ.” After selecting the theme the leadership team began working through Henry Blackaby’s book, Experiencing God, which promotes the practice of being before doing.
In order to better comprehend and communicate the 2021-2022 theme, members of the leadership team challenged the staff with a teaching method known as, “One Pagers” at this year’s all staff inservice. Teachers and staff were split into small groups and asked to visually represent the school theme. “One pagers are a creative way for students to share ideas and concepts they’ve learned and can be used across all content areas” Kelley Ridley, DCHS Director of Instruction.
As we commence the 2021-2022 school year DCS would like to offer further encouragement and direction on experiencing Christ. We pray you find the verses below to assist as partner with parents and community in faith:
Matthew 11:27-28 (Draw Near to Him – Rest)
Proverbs 3:5-6 (Trust in Him – Secure Path)
John 8:12 (Follow Him – No Darkness, Light of Life)
