Early Learning Center - Literacy Week

Literacy Week at the Early Learning Center: A Celebration of Reading Fun!

At Delmarva Christian’s Early Learning Center, we believe that a love for reading starts young! That’s why Literacy Week was such a special time for our little learners. Throughout the week, students engaged in fun, themed dress-up days that encouraged them to embrace the joy of books and storytelling.
Each day of the week featured a different theme, adding an extra layer of excitement to our reading adventures:

Monday – “Hats Off to Reading!”
Students kicked off Literacy Week in style by wearing their favorite hats, tipping them to the wonderful world of books. Whether it was a baseball cap, a sparkly tiara, or a silly, oversized sunhat, our students showed off their unique styles while diving into their favorite stories.

Tuesday – “Reading Will Knock Your Socks Off!”
Books can take us on wild adventures, and on Tuesday, our students rocked fun and mismatched socks to celebrate just how exciting reading can be! From bright stripes to polka dots, our classrooms were full of colorful, wacky footwear as we turned the pages of our favorite tales.

Wednesday – “Pajama Day”

There’s nothing cozier than curling up with a good book before bedtime! On Pajama Day, students wore their comfiest PJs and brought in their favorite bedtime stories to share. From classic fairy tales to new favorites, each book helped foster a love for reading at home and in the classroom.

Thursday – “Be a Fan of Reading”

Whether cheering for their favorite sports team or their favorite book, our students showed their enthusiasm on Thursday by wearing sports attire. Just like athletes train hard to win games, strong reading habits help build bright futures!

Friday – “Dress Like Your Favorite Storybook Character”

The grand finale of Literacy Week was nothing short of magical! Students arrived dressed as their favorite storybook characters, bringing beloved books to life in the classroom. From princesses and superheroes to talking animals and adventurous explorers, our hallways were filled with creativity and imagination.

The Joy of Reading Starts Here

Literacy Week was a reminder of the power of storytelling and the importance of fostering a lifelong love of reading. Seeing our young learners engage with books in such a fun and interactive way was truly inspiring!
