Delmarva Christian Students Shine at the Patriot Academy’s Northeast Leadership Congress
We are immensely proud to share that three of our exceptional students, Ava McCaron, Layni Dukes, and Avery Brown, recently participated in the prestigious Patriot Academy’s Northeast Leadership Congress from July 10-12. This unique opportunity allowed them to immerse themselves in the nation’s most realistic, simulated legislative session at the Delaware state capitol in Dover.

At the Northeast Leadership Congress, Ava, Layni, and Avery experienced firsthand the workings of our legislative process, including:
  • Presenting and questioning a bill
  • Functioning in a committee meeting
  • Debating multiple positions on current issues
  • Voting on legislation
  • Building coalitions
  • Campaigning for office as a candidate
But the learning didn’t stop there. Ava, Layni, and Avery also developed critical personal skills such as public speaking, media relations, and building rapport with individuals and audiences. They engaged in professional interactions, discerned the truth in complex issues, identified good legislation, and defended their beliefs with confidence.

The program also offered a deep dive into the foundational philosophy for governance, including:
  • The founding fathers’ vision for America
  • Proper role/God’s purpose for government
  • The foundation for our system of government
  • The Constitution in the past, present, and future
  • Principles of limited government
  • Statesmanship and character
Participants heard about today’s most relevant issues from a Biblical worldview, including sanctity of life, traditional/natural marriage, Second Amendment rights, church and state relations, freedom of speech, property rights, free enterprise economy, federalism, immigration, and individual liberties.

Throughout the congress, our students received practical advice and training from state representatives, policy experts, motivational speakers, local elected officials, campaign and legislative staff, and citizen activists who are making a difference.

We are confident that this experience was transformative for Ava, Layni, and Avery, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and inspiration to lead with integrity and impact. We look forward to supporting them in their future endeavors and witnessing the incredible contributions they will make.
Congratulations, Ava, Layni, and Avery! Your Delmarva Christian family is proud of you.
