High School History Teacher
For Kerri Napoli, teaching at Delmarva Christian is the fulfillment of a long-held dream. “I have been very blessed in my life to have jobs that I love and in which God has had work for me to do,” she shares. “Still, it has always been a dream for me to teach in a Christian school environment. When the opportunity came to move to Delaware, it was through family that I first learned of DCS. After looking into it more, I could tell there was something very special going on here. Centered on God, amazing staff, great students, committed parents, and an overall wonderful community—who could ask for more?”
Kerri’s passion for social studies runs deep, and she loves how the subject connects the past to our identity and purpose. “Social studies has always been one of my favorite subjects because it offers us all the opportunity to learn who we are because of where we came from and where we are going. Every step through this history leads us right back to God, who created us with purpose. I am most excited about the opportunity to help students grow in both their knowledge and faith through how history leads us to understanding ourselves as children of God!”
Kerri earned her BA in Religion and Youth Ministry from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Her career journey has been rich and diverse, including years in higher education working in academic and career advising, as well as graduate admissions. Prior to joining Delmarva Christian, she served as a youth minister in San Antonio, Texas.
Her professional journey started at age 15 with her first job at Dunkin’ Donuts in northern New Jersey. “I learned that you don’t mess with a Jersey person’s coffee—ever!” she says with a laugh.
In her free time, Kerri loves spending Friday nights with her three amazing sons, enjoying their family tradition of pizza and movie night. She also has a creative side, making fondant diaper cakes—crafted from diapers and receiving blankets—as gifts for friends and family who are expecting.
Her favorite place to visit is Michigan, where her best friend still lives. “It’s always special to return there and spend time together,” she says.
When it comes to teaching, Kerri’s favorite lesson focuses on the Reformation period. It’s a pivotal moment in history that allows her to delve into the intersection of faith, history, and purpose with her students.
With her heart for both history and ministry, Kerri Napoli is helping students at Delmarva Christian deepen their understanding of who they are and the God who has a purpose for their lives.
