Kayla Burd Trujillo is a 2011 graduate of Delmarva Christian High School. During her four-year athletic career at DCHS, Kayla was a standout track and field athlete. She earned DIAA All-State honors in both indoor and outdoor track in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
In 2009, as a sophomore, she placed 2nd in the Indoor State Championship meet in the Pole Vault for the Royals. She again finished 2nd at the 2010 Outdoor State Championship meet her junior year. In her senior year, she was the 2011 DIAA Indoor State Champion in the Pole Vault.
DCHS honors awarded to Kayla include being named the DCHS Distinguished Christian High School Student for Athletic Achievement. She was an Honor Roll student and a member of the 2011 Science Olympiad team. She was the Royals Track and Field team MVP in the spring of 2010 and repeated as team MVP for both the indoor and outdoor teams in 2011.
Kayla also contributed to both the Royals Cross Country and Volleyball programs during her time at DCHS. Following graduation, she attended Radford University on an athletic scholarship at the Division I level, competing as a Pole Vaulter for the Highlanders Track and Field team.
