Coach Jim Berger

Coach Jim Berger’s legacy, a paragon of coaching excellence, is imprinted on the very fabric of Delmarva Christian’s athletic success. His tenure as both a coach and Athletic Director laid the foundation of excellence we continue to enjoy statewide.

Coach Berger’s impact on Delaware varsity volleyball is unparalleled, boasting over 200 victories and an impressive six consecutive ESIAC Conference Championships. His leadership ushered in four consecutive DIAA State Tournament appearances and an astonishing seven consecutive appearances from 2015 to 2021.

As a testament to his coaching ability, Jim earned the title of Diamond State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year three times, as well as being honored as Coach of the Year by the Delaware Volleyball Coaches Association in 2010 and 2018.

Coach Berger's coaching journey extended beyond traditional boundaries as he pioneered the inaugural Delmarva Christian High School Boys Volleyball Team, helping boys volleyball earn DIAA-sanctioned status. Under his leadership, the team earned two state tournament bids and a state championship appearance.

Even after his departure, every state tournament appearance and the Final Four trophy proudly displayed in our trophy case bears the imprint of Coach Jim Berger's legacy. Delmarva Christian High School celebrates and welcomes Coach Jim Berger into its Athletic Hall of Fame, recognizing a coach whose impact transcends trophy cases, shaping the character and success of athletes for years to come.
