Faculty Feature - Chris Countryman, Middle School Bible
Chris Countryman initially hesitated to return to ministry or teaching, but after feeling a nudge to apply at Delmarva over five years ago, he now spends his work day at DCS teaching the word of God, finding immense fulfillment in seeing students experience transformations in their faith.
Countryman holds a bachelor's degree in Religion from Liberty University and brings a background in construction, where he learned the
importance of hard work, fairness, and integrity.
He cherishes time with his family, particularly on "Donut Saturdays" and date nights with his wife. Chris is also passionate about coaching his kids in town sports, collecting sports cards, and playing bullet chess online.
What most excites Mr. Countryman about working at DCS?
"The opportunity to teach students the word of God. The only thing that matters and will last is what we do in the name of Jesus. I get excited when I see God change hearts and minds. I have had many students that do not know Jesus, deny Jesus, or they have had a really negative attitude towards faith, and then they had a complete 180 turnaround. Everyday in class they open up God's word and then we get to unpack His amazing love for us. "
His favorite lesson to teach is on Identity and Purpose, rooted in Genesis 1, which helps set a meaningful tone for the school year.
