We offer Shadow Days for prospective DCHS students!
Spending the day at DCHS is a great way to learn first hand what it’s like to be a student at Delmarva Christian.
From the moment you step on to the DCHS campus we’ll take care of everything!! One our Student Ambassadors will be with you throughout the day as you visit some of our core classes as well as some of our electives. However, if you have a specific area of interest, be sure to let us know before your visit so we can try to schedule time in that area.
Your day will begin in the office where you will meet your Student Ambassador who will take you to our weekly Chapel service that runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Your parents and any siblings are also invited to stay and join us for Chapel! There is always great student-led Praise & Worship followed by an inspiring message. After Chapel, you go to class with your Student Ambassador. At lunchtime, you will join all our Ambassadors who will help answer any questions as we enjoy a meal together. The day is really about learning what life is like living as a Royal.
The day concludes at 3:10.
Students in grades 7 through 12 are encouraged to shadow. Although we would love to have students for the entire day, half-day shadowing experiences are also available upon request.
What time should I arrive?
Report to the main office between 8:00 a.m. and 8:05 a.m.
What time should I get picked up from DCHS?
The school day ends at 3:10 p.m.; however, we can have you returned to the main office by 3:00 if you want an early pick up. Just let us know.
Should I bring a lunch?
We will provide pizza and a drink for you! You are welcome to pack a lunch if you’d prefer but it is not necessary.
What happens if there is a weather delay?
You may still visit us even if we have an one- or two-hour delay. Just watch WBOC-TV or check out our webpage to see if there is a weather delay. If you prefer to re-schedule, that is fine too. Just email our Admissions Director at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible (even that morning).
What should I wear?
Dress pants or khakis with a dress shirt, blouse, polo, and/or sweater is appropriate. Please do not wear jeans. And, any type of closed-toe shoes are permitted.
What is the policy regarding cell phones?
Cell phones may remain with students but they must be turned off (not on silent or vibrate) and out of sight all day.
If I visit the P.E. class, may I or should I bring a change of clothes?
You are always welcome to participate in physical education classes so, yes, a change of clothes is appropriate–just be mindful of our dress code that centers on modesty and neatness. If visiting a P.E. class is important, just let us know when you schedule your day to shadow.
May I shadow for half of a day?
Absolutely! It is preferred that you shadow the first half of the day so you are able to experience our Chapel service. Again, just let us know in advance if you’ll only be with us for a portion of the day.
