The Delmarva Christian High School Girls Basketball team clinched their first championship on Monday, February 23. DCHS and Saints Peter and Paul School—the top two teams in the ESIAC (Eastern Shore Independent Athletic Conference)—faced off on the court of Delmarva Christian’s new Arts and Athletics Center to decide which team would earn the championship title.
“It was a great win for the school.” – Athletic Director Jeff Mohr
Both teams played tenaciously through the first half, but the Delmarva Christian Lady Royals led the Saints Peter and Paul School Sabres by 24 points as the game reached half-time. The Lady Royals held on to the lead throughout the second half and were victorious over the Sabres with a final score of 61 to 42.
“It was a great win for the school,” said DCHS Athletic Director Jeff Mohr. Mohr’s sentiments were echoed by Girls Basketball Coach, Sharon Stevens, who said the championship was a, “new success for the DCHS girls program.” Both Mohr and Stevens are hard at work in shaping the program to compete in the years to come and building the character of the Lady Royals, on and off the court.
