Delmarva Christian High School is thrilled to announce their Second Biennial Career Day to take place on March 10.  During the Career Day, students from ninth to twelfth grade will have the opportunity to meet professionals from twenty-one different career fields.

In preparation for the day, DCHS College and Career Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Terri Smith, surveyed students to decide which career choices best fit their interests. Smith contacted speakers who matched with those professions based on their careersand walk of faith.

Volunteer firefighter, Christian, and, most notable, WBOC anchor, Jimmy Hoppa will be this year’s keynote speaker. He will open the morning’s activities promptly at 8:25 a.m.

“I was excited when Jimmy Hoppa received special permission enabling him to be our keynote speaker. Considering he has been in both radio and television, he can speak on a number of entertainment platforms,” said Mrs. Smith. “Not to mention, he is a local celebrity.”

Having Hoppa serve as the keynote speaker and also to speak during the breakout sessions is also a great fit since Arts and Entertainment was one of the most popular career fields chosen within the DCHS student body.

In keeping with the DCS mission that focuses on God’s call on each student’s life, the DCHS Career Day not only provides students with information on occupations but it gives them insight into a number of professionals’ daily routines and their journeys with Christ.

“Most students at this age don’t know what they want to do or don’t want to do; this gives them a glimpse into a variety of careers and ways to minister to their community within their choices,” stated Smith. “Through Career Day they can discover new interests within themselves.”

Jimmy Hoppa will speak to the DCHS students, staff and faculty from 8:25 a.m. until 9:00a.m. with breakout sessions led by countless guest speakers directly following until 10:45 a.m. Each student will receive a master schedule for the morning based on his or her career interests.
