Delmarva Christian has not just given me a feeling of a strong community, but a sense that we are linked together like a big family.  We are here for one another professionally and spiritually.
Why Delmarva Christian:

When I moved from Maryland to Delaware, I wanted to be in a Christian environment.  I am so thankful that once again, I feel that I have found my place and love what I do.

Background:

I began learning Spanish as a young child because of my grandfather’s business. My father continued the business of importing cork from Spain, Portugal and North Africa.  This gave me an appreciation for languages and other cultures.  I majored in both Spanish and French.  My love for languages took me to the Office of International Patient Affairs at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.  Many days I spoke more Spanish than I did English at the hospital.  As I grew older and had children, my interest in teaching grew.  I began postgraduate studies in Education.  This brought me to my first teaching position at Saint James Academy in Maryland.  After teaching there for 15 years I moved to Rehoboth and taught Spanish at Sussex Academy for four years.  I feel so blessed to be in my third year of teaching at Delmarva Christian Milton Campus.  This has not just given me a feeling of a strong community, but a sense that we are linked together like a big family.  We are here for one another professionally and spiritually.

What is unique about Delmarva Christian:

Delmarva Christian is an uplifting community that supports everyone’s gifts from God.

Favorite lesson:

Teaching Spanish through storytelling in the lower elementary grades is one of my favorite lessons.  As I tell a story, I circle back and ask questions in Spanish. I love seeing the progress the students make.  It is a lot of fun for everyone especially with a craft to reinforce the material learned.

Favorite Bible verse:

Proverbs 22 : 6  Train a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Fun fact:

I love the ocean and was a licensed scuba diver for many years.
