From the moment you walk into Delmarva Christian you can tell that the staff and students are a family.
Why Delmarva Christian?
My husband and I have two daughters, and as they got older and closer to school age we started to have conversations about what we wanted their education to look like. We knew that we wanted them to learn and grow in all areas, including spiritually. Delmarva Christian seemed like the perfect fit for our family, so I took a chance and applied.

How did you end up at Delmarva Christian?

I am very excited to be joining the Delmarva Christian School family this year. This is my first year at DCS, but my 8th year teaching. I started my teaching career in Georgia, where I taught special education for one year. Then my husband and I moved to the Maryland/Delaware area. For the past six years I taught in Wicomico County Public Schools. I was a special education teacher for two years and a Pre-K teacher for 4 years.

What do you think is unique about DC?
From the moment you walk into Delmarva Christian you can tell that the staff and students are a family. Even though it is only my first year at Delmarva Christian, I feel very welcomed and supported by not only the administration, but also all the staff and the families in my class.

What is your favorite lesson to teach in class?
There is not one single lesson that I love the most, but I love to do themed days/classroom transformations. Themed days/classroom transformations are a way for me to push my students academically by incorporating engaging activities and my students' interests and strengths. Costumes are always an added bonus as well! So far this year my class has done a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and superhero themed day/classroom transformation.

Favorite verse or passage?
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

Fun Fact?
A fun fact about me is that my favorite animal is a walrus. When I was born my parents got me a stuffed animal walrus named Otto. As a little kid I brought him everywhere with me. Now as an adult, I still have the original Otto plus a lot of other walrus stuffed animals and figurines.
