TELL US ABOUT YOUR STORY:
I didn’t start in education until I was older in age, my husband was in the military and we had been stationed at three different bases. We loved Delaware and felt Dover Air Force Base would be a great location close enough to our home towns in Pittsburgh, PA and Ohio. When my kids were little I stayed home and took care of them, which to all the parents who are at home caring for children they know it is one of the hardest jobs to do. When my youngest was in preschool I started helping out at Calvary Christian in Dover and fell in love with being in the classroom. At that time I started taking classes toward my degree and spent six years teaching and around the classroom at Calvary.
WHY DELMARVA CHRISTIAN?
My daughter graduated from Delmarva Christian in 2010 and at that time I worked as a para in the Lake Forest School District but really missed Christian education. So, I applied and waited for an opening and here we are! I’ve really enjoyed being here at Delmarva, we are all on the same team and share the same mission. Especially this last year with Covid and the challenges that come along with it – I know our students are ahead of the game.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LESSON TO TEACH?
My passion is reading. As a child I struggled and I know if children cannot read well it will effect them all through school. I love when they become more fluent and start comprehending, it really touches all areas of their eduction in the future. I remember
FUN FACT:
I love the tropics, it’s my bucket list to hit all the islands. I’ve been to Bermuda and the Bahamas and love to go on cruises. At first, it took me forever to get on a cruise but once I overcame the fear I realized it is the most awesome vacation ever.
